My first journey was five years ago when I visited Berlin, Germany. My first flight was two years ago. I went to my favorite country, Italy, and my favorite city, Rome. I wasn‘t thinking then that travelling might become my passion and I didn‘t know what these travels were going to give me. Before my first journey I was dreaming to go somewhere just to have fun with my friends, but it gave me more than that.
Every time I go to a new country, I see world differently. I get out of my comfort zone, I become curious to meet new people, and I see new places. The most exciting thing happened to me last year on Christmas Eve. My friends and I were in Barcelona, Spain. We decided to visit Montserrat mountain and spent more than hour going there on a train and then funicular brought us to the monastery that stands at the center of the mountain range. The scenery was amazing there. My friends and I were walking in the clouds for real. We visited that beautiful monastery and when the time came to go to the top of the Montserrat mountain, we have been told that funicular was broken at the time and if we wanted to go to the top, the only way is to go there on foot. That woman looked at us and saw that our clothes and shoes are not suitable for climbing a mountain, but she just laughed. You think that it stopped us? Of course not. We didn’t come this far and spend that money just to see a monastery and go back to the city, so we looked at each other and said “Let’s do this.”
We went on a steep path for an hour and reached a midway point where people were resting, enjoying the scenery and getting ready to go back. All of the people were wearing climbing boots, comfortable clothes and some of them with climbing sticks. We took a rest knowing that there was one more hour ahead of us and we were not going to give up. So after two hours walking on the steep path and quick stops for photo shoots, we finally reached the end of that path. It was almost the top. We went as far as we could without climbing equipment.
Then we had a feeling that is hard to describe and to feel twice in a lifetime. We felt like we reached something good in our lives and we wanted to take the best of that moment. We just sat there, put our phones away, looked at that spectacular scenery, talked and dreamed about other places we wanted to see and things we wanted to do in our lives. That journey and that climbing to the top helped me decide and understand the goals I want to reach in my life. This I believe.
